I decided to start making a new series called FYI. FYI as you know mean for your information but I decided to switch up the meaning for my own purposes. My FYI section will feature fashion-y news that I think you guys should hear about and also, some things going on in my life. So, this is my first FYI post!

So adorable, right?

Jennette McCurdy,of iCarly, has been named the spokesperson for the super cute fashion line Rebecca Bonbon. The Rebecca Bonbon fashion line sports the face of the adorable French bulldog and fashionista Rebecca Bonbon. The line was designed by the creator of  Hello Kitty, Yuko Shimizu, so you know it has to be cute! Jennette will be the face of the line for the summer campaign as well as for Back-to-School. You can find the line at Sears and Kmart for affordable prices that won't leave a dent in your wallet.

Seventeen, the leader in all things teen, has just released a fabulous new style book. As you can tell by the cover it is teaching you to find your own unique, personal style. I love all things Seventeen, so I just know that this book is going to be great. The book has advice from its magazine editors, real-girl style experts, Hollywood stylists, and celebrity style icons. It's bursting with style tips and even has chapters that break down common styles for you such as: Classic, Edgy, Girly, Glam, Sporty, Artsy, and Boho. This book is perfect for any girl who is having a little trouble with their style. I have a feeling it will be perfect for back-to-school!  It will be released on July 5th, so check out your local bookstore for a copy of this fab book!

Betsey Johnson best known for her amazing whimsical designs will be appearing at Teen Vogue's Fashion University to give her very own seminar. Get excited! I definitely am! She is my absolute favorite designer! She know how to have fun and her seminar will,no doubt, be a blast! For those of you who don't know Teen Vogue's Fashion University is a 3-day event where fashionista from all over the country ,and even the world, gather to learn about the fashion industry from industry favorites themselves. The event is loaded with fun parties at stores like H&M, interesting seminars, and amazing free stuff! It is an amazing opportunity to get your foot in the door! I wish I could go but it will be in New York! I live in Georgia so there is like no way I could go! Anyway, ya'll should still check it out! Go here to register!

Well I hope you guys enjoyed my first FYI! I had a lot of fun making it! I don't exactly know if it will be a weekly thing or a daily thing , but I do know that I will be keeping up with it!

Fashion Inspiration: Love You Like A Love Song!

Okay, has anyone seen Selena Gomez's new music video? It was stunning! It took my breath away! I mean I liked the song, but I liked her outfits even better! It had that whole high fashion feel to it. Anyway I have been in love with Selena's outfits from her music videos ( and even the one's she wears in person!). Like her music video "Who Says", she looked GORGEOUS barefoot running around in that couture dress. Anyway back to her new song. It's called "Love You Like A Love Song" and there were six unbelievable outfits that you just have to see. Yeah, I said HAVE to!
I love her perfectly coifed hair. You rockin' those sequins, girl and that microphone!

Selena went back to the 60's with this look. I love those glasses!
My absolute favorite look! I die!

You don't want to mess with this chick!
Edgy and glam to the max!
This look takes me back to the Victorian era! So pretty!
See I told you I wasn't kidding when I said the looks were gorgeous! Hey if Selena doesn't make far as a singer, she can always be a style icon! She got my vote for sure! I really want that bejeweled corset dress! Could you see someone wearing that to a school dance? If I could have that dress I would wear it anywhere!

P.S. Selena Gomez maybe singing that "I'm no beauty queen, I'm just beautiful me", but I am definitely more than just beautiful because I got me a copy of the new book Beauty Queen coming my way. ( Yes, I won another book giveaway and no, just because I get easily excited over new books doesn't mean I am a nerd. Who says a girl can't like fashion and books, right?)

The Time Traveling Fashionista visits The Funky Fashionista

OMG!! Guess what! I just won a giveaway and I receiving a free book! Now must of y'all are probably like, "WHAT! It's just a book! What could she possibly be so excited about?". Well, I didn't just win any book. I won The Time-Traveling Fashionista! It is one the must-books for any stylista, this summer! The whole reason why I am even receiving the book is because I entered this giveaway with Girl Life magazine( yeah, I read it!) and I actually won! I never win things, so I am really, really excited! I should be getting it in about a week or two!
This is the cover. So Cute!
I went to Pick-A-Poppy's ( the books publisher) website to learn about the book. Pick-A-Poppy publishes some of my favorite book series like Gossip Girl, Secrets of My Hollywood Life, The Clique, The It-Girl and so much more stylish books. Well, this how  Pick-A- Poppy described the book:

What if a beautiful vintage dress could take you back in time?

Louise Lambert has always dreamed of movie starlets and exquisite gowns and longs for the day when she can fill the closet of her normal suburban home with stylish treasures. But when she receives a mysterious invitation to a vintage fashion sale in the mail, her once painfully average life is magically transformed into a time-travel adventure.

Suddenly onboard a luxurious cruise ship a hundred years ago, Louise relishes the glamorous life of this opulent era and slips into a life of secrets, drama, and decadence. . . .

Dreamy and imaginative, The Time-Traveling Fashionista features thirty full-color fashion illustrations to show gorgeous dresses and styles throughout history.

Sounds amazing right! I look forward to reading the book and I hope you guys check it out!

Tribal Revival

Tribal Revival

Oh, how I love thee tribal prints! Tribal prints are making a comeback! Tribal prints are not about pulling out your Pocahontas costume from Halloween but, embracing bold colors, fun patterns, and fierce prints! There are so many ways that you can't include tribal prints in your wardrobe this summer, from a fun romper to a crazy-cute top! There is no excuse not to take a walk on the wild side!

So funky, right! The Funky Fashionista like!
I don't know why I love tribal prints so much! Maybe it's because of my heritage. My family comes from Africa, so I have a lot African clothes and jewelry. Anyway, this trends gives me a chance to incorporate some of my African items to get that real authentic, tribal touch!

The Funky Fashionista goes Job Hunting!

So as you can tell by the title of this post I am looking for a job. My first job in fact! I am super-duper excited. This job may define me for the rest of my life or until I find a even better job! Any who, I looking at a lot of places, on of those being Chick-fil-a, but to tell you the truth, I don't want any old job; I want a job in retail! For those of you who know me, you know that I have a big passion for fashion.

So yeah, I have been looking for a few retail-ish jobs in my area and I have found two possible options ( I live in a really small town!). My first option is to work at a children's boutique called Southern Belles and Beaus. It is pretty cute but the things is it is a children's boutique. I talking onesies and frilly bloomers! That's not cute unless you an itsy-bitsy baby which the last time I checked I'm am so not! The second option is a teen's/college aged boutique called Campus Girl! It sells really cute stuff for more affordable prices (Me, like!). I am leaning more towards option two. As a 16 year old girl, I feel it is more up my alley. So I contacted the owner of Campus Girl, so I should hear back pretty soon! I'll keep you posted on the job search!

The Funky Fashionista Out!

Color Craze: Exotic Pink

Guess what guy's, I got a brand-new nail polish shade and it's super cute! I got it today when I was hitting up the local drugstore with my mom. It must have been made for me because the instant I went towards the cosmetic section, I could feel it drawing me closer.

The brand is L.A. Color Craze. It is a really bright (almost hot-pink)! It is probably going to be my new summer shade. I haven't put it on yet but I know it will look amazing against my complexion. I would definitely recommend that you guys try it out!
I told you it was super bright! I found this image online.
Stay Fierce!

Anyway yesterday at Polyvore I made this amazing set for Armani Exchange's 20th anniversary and I must say it came out pretty good because usually my sets come out looking really, really cheap! The winner of this contest win 20 pieces from Armani Exchange worth up to $1,000!! That is amazing! Anyway wish me luck and check out my Polyvore account. My account name is Funky Fashionista.

Summer Must- Haves

This summer there is a lot of things on my mind, clothes wise! Since we're out of school it is the perfect time to go shopping, especially with all the summer sales. These are some of things I am hoping to get this summer:

1. Tribal Printed or One Shouldered Dress: I am obsessed with tribal prints! They remind me of the African clothes I sometimes wear. Tribal prints are definetly for a girl that is bold and like to make a statement! As for one shouldered dresses, I think they are so flirty and fun! They perfect for a summer barbecue or a cool summer party!

2. Animal Prints: I have been a fan of animal print, especially cheetah print, since the Cheetah Girls. Animal prints is so fierce.

3. Feather Earrings: Feather earrings are becoming really, really popular! I first noticed when I saw Aria from Pretty Little Liars wearing them. Since then feather have been showing up everywhere! I seen them on dresses, headbands, shoes, and even bracelets!

4. Wedges: I adore wedges! I want some so bad! I was so close to getting some last week but my mom was said no! It is not that she doesn't like wedges, she almost bought a pair for herself! Its that she thinks I am too clumsy to wear them, but I will prove her wrong! I usually do!

5. Statement Rings: What is with making a statement? First, we had statement necklaces and now, we have statement rings! What are we going to have next, statement bracelets? Anyway, this peacock ring is super cute! Peacocks are my favorite animal. This ring reminds of that "Peacock" song by Katy Perry!

6. Short Shorts: "Daisy Dukes, Bikinis on top"! Katy Perry was on to something when she wrote the summer anthem " California Girls". Short Shorts are perfect for a day at the beach! Just throw them on top of your bathing suit and you are good to go!

Book Spotlight: POSEUR

So I know I haven't posted in a couple days but I have a really good reason. I was reading! Now I know its summer but I love to read, especially if the book is really, really good. So anyway I thought I would share with you what I've had my nose buried in for the past few days.
So Chic Right?

Poseur is about four high school girls who love fashion (but hate each other) that are forced together to create a designer label for their exclusive LA private school. Each girl is super different; there is a cool coquette, a shy punk, a ghetto-glam egomaniac, and a hippie goddess.

I don't know about you but I would kill for the chance to design my own designer label and I wouldn't care who I was forced to work with. I so wish my school would let us do more fashion related things. I mean we do have classes like Fashion Marketing, but that is so not enough. You know what I mean? Anyway this book is really good so make sure to check it out.

What book would you recommend reading?
